Biography






...Vincent Lhermet (born in 1987) started to play the accordion at the age of six. After studying with Jacques Mornet at the CNIMA Music Center, he graduated from Gennevilliers Conservatory and from Dijon National Conservatory in the class of Olivier Urbano.

..Some eminent musicians like French composer Bernard Cavanna, encouraged him to continue his studies at the Sibelius Academy of Helsinki (Finland). Vincent graduated as a Bachelor of Music with the highest honors in 2010 and he is currently finishing is Master of Music degree in the class of Matti Rantanen. Vincent also followed the masterclasses of Claudio Jacomucci, Mie Miki, Stefan Hussong, Janne Rättyä and participated to old music seminars under the guidance of violinist Kreeta-Maria Kenttala, and clavecinists Elina Mustonen and Assi Karttunen.

..He was one of the youngest prize winner of international competitions such as the Trophée Mondial (Kragujevac, Serbia) in 2006 (1st prize) and the renowned Arrasate-Hiria International Competition (Spain) in 2006 (1st prize).

..Vincent Lhermet has been performing in many countries throughout the world like in Russia (International « Vivat Bayan » Festival, Samara), Serbia (International Festival of Kragujevac), Spain (International Festival of Arrasate-Hiria), Lithuania, Germany, Finland, Switzerland, Italy, Holland, and of course in France (Pamparina, Festival du Haut-Livradois-Forez, Estivales d’Orgues de Châlons en Bourgogne).

..More and more convinced that a musician is growing with all kinds of human experiences, and with all what surrounds the learning of an instrument, Vincent studied Musicology at the Paris-IV Sorbonne University, and obtained from the Dijon Conservatory his harmony, counterpoint and music analysis diplomas.

..Chamber music is taking a big part of Vincent’s activity: he has been giving concerts in all Europe with organ, clarinet, cello or viola. In June 2010, he was invited to play 12 concerts in Finland, Italy and in France with the Althea string quartet, in a program dedicated to Finnish music: he got the opportunity to perform in prestigious places such as the Finnish Institute of Paris, the Villa Lante of Rome and the Festival Castello in Musica of Montiglio Monferrato.

..Vincent Lhermet is also involved in performing new music and collaborating with composers: he was invited to play at the Musica Nova Festival of Helsinki and the Musiques Démesurées Festival of Clermont-Ferrand.
In April 2011, he was Finalist (4th prize) of the renowned Gaudeamus Interpreters International Competition at the Muziekgebouw of Amsterdam, one of the most prestigious contest for contemporary music, opened to all instruments.

..For the quality of his artistic work, Vincent Lhermet has been supported by the Paulo Foundation, the Sibelius Academy Foundation and the Foundation for the Promotion of Finnish Music (LUSES).
